In Ngee Ann Polytechnic, students are sent out on internship for a semester as part of the school's curriculum. I chose to intern at m:idea as the Editor of npTribune and Deputy Editor of HYPE magazine.
As the editor for npTribune, I spent my days in the office managing every aspect of the publication from its social media accounts and website to the stories slated for publication and liaising with the other faculties in school. I also got a chance to learn people management, when I had to take charge of the student journalists who were writing for npTribune and HYPE magazine.
It just so happened that it was the 25th Anniversary of npTribune during my time as editor, therefore, as per the suggestion of our supervisor, we decided to invite past editors of npTribune and have them grace the covers of HYPE magazine. Additionally, due to the 21st Anniversary of HYPE, the theme for its 45th issue is Coming of Age.
Though the production of the magazine was tedious, I am glad to have been given the opportunity to not only edit articles, but to also plan photoshoots, decide on the pagination of the magazine, assist in design and many other miscellaneous tasks that were crucial in bringing the magazine together.
You can read the magazine here.
